Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the morphogenetic characteristics of F4 resulted of crossing cayenne pepper with curly pepper. The research was conducted from June to November 2019 at the experimental station of the Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments, namely P2.7, P2.23, and P3.23 (chilli seeds f4 from the crossing of cayenne pepper with curly pepper), and 2 control plants namely K (seed cayenne pepper plants without crosses) and K2 (seeds of curly peppers without crosses) and 2 consisting of ordinary cayenne pepper and regular curly peppers, so that the number of plants observed was 45 plants. The results showed that the entire population of lines had diversity in each of the observed quantitative and qualitative characters, the results of the analysis of variance showed that the diversity between plants in the family / line was lower, meaning that the burial process had reached the pure line genotype, genetic segregation in the pop of the offspring. already small, the P.27 line was considered to be the most superior among other lines, especially in terms of plant height, fruit weight, number of fruit, fruit diameter, fruit length, canopy width and number of seeds which were also superior to morphogenetic diversity, namely growth type, leaf shape, position. flower and fruit position, correlation analysis showed that fruit weight per plant had a positive correlation with plant height, fruit weight, fruit number, fruit diameter, fruit length, canopy width and number of seeds.
