Abstract
This Field Practice was aimed to determine the agronomic and economic ects that influence the propagation and marketing of ornamental plants and fruit seedlings at Jalan Demang Lehar Daun, Palembang City. This field practice was carried out on Jalan Demang Lebar Daun Palembang on May 29, 2019 and July 29, 2019. Data on this field practice was obtained by survey using questionnaires. The survey was conducted by interviewing seven respondents who work as sellers of ornamental plant seedlings in J alan Demang Lebar Dmm Palembang. There are various types of plants sold by respondents consisting of ornamental stems, leaves and flowers. Ornamental plant seedlings are obtained by self-production through vegetative (cuttings and graftings) and generative propagations. Some seedlings were also imported from outside area such as Lampung and Jakarta. The seedlings production process does not experience significant obstacles in terms of availability of seedlings, fertilizers and pesticides availability, pesticides, and also pests & diseases attack. However, the problem faced is due to the weather, as in dry season, where the risk of plant death is higher especially if the seeds are propagated by cuttings. Marketing of ornamental plant seeds has also experienced a number of obstacles considering that some of the respondents do not have a wider market network. Therefore, there needs to be a wider market network such as the use of internet technology so that marketing can be carried out optimally.
