Abstract

Background : Exclusive breastfeeding is the provision of breast milk to infants aged 0-6 months without providing any additional food. Data from Basic Health Research in 2018 found that the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia was still low at 37.3%. One of the reasons for the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is the lack of knowledge of the community, especially breastfeeding mothers, regarding the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Purpose : The review of this review literature aims to determine the effectiveness of health education with simulation and video methods on the level of maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. Method : This literature review collects and analyzes research articles on health education methods in enhancing knowledge about breastfeeding. Articles collected come from electronic journals that are searched using Google Scholar by using keywords in the method of health education to the knowledge of mothers in giving breast milk. Inclusion Criteria: Research journals that focus on the problem of the effectiveness of video education and simulation methods on the level of maternal knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding. Results: The literature review of this review shows that health education using video methods is more effective than using simulation methods. Discussion and conclusions: The literature review of this review shows that health education using video and simulation methods has a level of similarity in increasing maternal knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding. However, when viewed from 10 journals reviewed, each method used in the study and the number of respondents indicated that the video method was more effective in increasing maternal knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding.
