Abstract

Spodoptera frugiperda (JE Smith) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) is a polypagus pest or attacks various types of plants such as cotton, soybeans, beans, tomatoes, rice onions, and several types of grass for animal feed, but S. frugiperda has recently been more loves corn plants. To control S. frugiperda can use parasitoid biological agents, therefore this study aims 1) To determine the effect of conventional land and land without pesticides on the intensity of S. frugiperda attack in one corn growing season 2) To determine the diversity and level of parasitation in eggs and larvae of S. frugiperda during one growing season of maize. 3) To determine the effect of conventional land and land without pesticides on the growth and yield of maize during one growing season. This research has been carried out in two farmers' fields (1 h each) and one experimental field for the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from February to December 2020. The attack counter follows the W-shaped sampling. The method of determining the attack of S. frugiperda larvae follows the method of collection (Aguirre et al 2016) Calculation of S. frugiperda egg parasitization was carried out by census. And for the phenological variables of growth and production of maize plants by sampling with 5 replications of 100 plants per land. The highest attack intensity was on conventional land B and the lowest was on land without pesticides. And the highest level of parasitization occurred in fields without pesticides. And the parasitoids found in conventional A, conventional B and land without pesticides were Telenomus sp, which parasitized S. frugiperda eggs. The use of synthetic insecticides on conventional land A and conventional land B did not affect the growth, development and yield of maize crops, but had an effect on the level of parasitization of S. frugiperda eggs. Keywords; Spodoptera frugiperda, attack intensity, Telenomus sp
