Abstract

This study aims to determine the general description of traders (age, sex, education, and length of work) as well as the hygiene and sanitation behavior that affects the existence of E.coli (personal hygiene, equipment sanitation, service sanitation, and facilities sanitation). The research was carried out in June – August 2020 which is located in the Laboratory of Agricultural Technology Departement and around The Sriwijaya University. A descriptive research using cross sectional approach aimed to investigate the traders characteristic. A number of 20 respondents has been surveyed for the following aspects: general (age, gender, education and duty time) as well as their hygienic and sanitation aspects on detected E. coli (individual hygiene, equipment sanitation, sanitary serving and sanitary display facility). This research was conducted in The Regency of Ogan Ilir, Timbangan district. The number of samples is 20 respondents who costitute the entire population. The results of research were presented in frequency distribution data. The research revealed that the pecel lele traders aged between 24 and 54 years, male, have education from SD to SMA and have service years between 1- 10 or more. Based on individual hygiene, 60% of the traders have good hygienic behavior, whereas 50% of the traders applied good equipment sanitation. Moreover, 55% of the traders were shown to serve the sambal sanitarily and 50% of them have good display facilities. The data for population in Ogan Ilir regency suffering diarrhea were included. Based on bacterial identification, 50% product of traders contains bacteria E.coli
