Abstract

Introduction: The achievement of the cumulative grade point average in the learning process is influenced by internal factors and external factors. The entry paths is an external factor. There are three entry paths for new student admissions at the Unsri Medical Faculty, namely, SNMPTN, SBMPTN, USM. The admission procedure for the three entry paths is different which can cause the backgrounds of prospective students to be different, so this study wants to find out how the entry paths relate to the academic achievement index of medical students of the Sriwijaya University Medical Faculty in 2018. Methods: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. There were 232 research subjects consisting of 70 men and 162 women. This study aims to determine the relationship between the entry pathways of public university and the student’s cumulative GPA of the Medical Faculty Medical Education program batch 2018. The GPA used in this study is categorized into two categories, namely incompetent and competent, with a standard value of grade B or ≥ 3.00 for competent and <3.00 for incompetent. Results: Most medical students in 2018 obtained a cumulative grade point average with competent category of 138 respondent (55.5%). The results of the bivariate study on the entry paths to the GPA was p=0,015 (p<α, α=0,05). Conclusion: There is significant relationship between entry pathways and student cumulative grade point average. Keywords: GPA, College Student, Entry path.
