Abstract

This study aims to determine the utilization of lowland swamps based on community food needs in Ulak Kembahang 1 Village, Pemulutan Barat District, Ogan Ilir Regency by using the concept of environmental sociology. The method used in this research is qualitative and presented descriptively. By using primary data sources and secondary data sources obtained in the research process. Data collection techniques that include observation, interviews and documentation using triangulation of sources as a technique for checking and validating the data. The data analysis technique used was data collection, data condensation, data presentation and conclusions and verification as data analysis techniques used. After conducting the research, the results obtained were that the use of lowland swamps in Ulak Kembahang 1 Village had met the needs of the community, especially food needs. However, obstacles were also found in the use of swamps, namely, firstly, a lack of sufficient capital, secondly flooding caused by rain and overflowing river water, and three rats that caused farmers to fail their crops.
