Abstract

Palembang is the oldest city in Indonesia with a lot of artistic and cultural potential in it. Palembang artists and cultural observers do not have a place and space for art and creation because Palembang does not have facilities for organizing these activities. Therefore, the city government of Palembang began to respond by supporting Palembang to become a city of arts. For this reason, container facilities are needed in the form of an art market that accommodates trading activities that are also educational and creative for the community. The art market design uses expressionism architecture to support a building that portrays the beauty of art which is the design goal. The espressionism approach is used to highlight the typical Palembang art in the form of a songket motif that inspires the flow of circulation in the placement of stalls of artists in buildings. The shape of the supporting buildings is also inspired by the diversity of Palembang's characteristics in the form of high and curved roofs, and the shape of the nail accessories of Palembang dancers and brides that are straight and then curved at the ends. Restoring Palembang's identity as a water city by maximizing waterways for access to art markets, making river waves as inspiration for facades and roofs of buildings, and utilizing river water as an alternative resource in meeting water needs in the art market is the design goal of the Art Market. The main structure of the building uses strong and rigid reinforced concrete. The structure of the building which must have minimal columns, uses steel as the main structure. For building utilities tailored to the needs and functions of each room in the building.Palembang is the oldest city in Indonesia with a lot of artistic and cultural potential in it.
