Abstract

Tetracera indica is the plant that has been used traditionally for the treatment of kidney stone by community of Musi Banyuasin. However, the information of chemical and biological activities are still limited. In this study, the isolation of flavonoid compund from ethyl acetate extract of T.indica stems has done. The isolation was began with extraction that using increased polarity (n-hexan, ethyl acetate, and ethanol), for each extract was antioxidant activity test by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. After that, extract that showed antioxidant activity (ethyl acetate) was separated and purified by method of gravity column chromatography technique until it have pure compound. The isolated compound were determinated the structure by method of spectroscopy UV, IR, and NMR. The analysis data of isolated compound by spectroscopy is 5,8-dihydroxyl-7- methoxyflavone (wogonin). The compound showed the strong antioxidant active with number IC50 8,25 μg/mL that higher than ascorbic acid standard with number IC50 11,3 μg/mL. The data proves that T.indica can be effectively for the treatment of kidney stone.
