Abstract

Potentiometry is part of the electrochemical analysis technique, where there was a potential measurement of two electrodes at a current equal to zero. Potentiometric methods can determine the activity coefficients, pH value, dissociation constants and product solubility, standard affinity and chemical reactions. In this research was done analysis of copper metal in leachate water taken from TPA Sukawinatan Palembang in five locations such as pond leachate 1 to pond leachate 5. The potentiometric method must be validated first and determined the optimum conditions such as temperature, pH and the effect of foreign ion. This method have a correlation coefficient of 0.9997 and linear region in the concentration range 1x10-3 - 1x10-5 mol/L. The accuracy of this potentiometric method was very good because the percentage of RSD produced was 0.6% with an average accuracy of 95.35%. The detection limit (LoD) of the measurable method was 1.085x10-6 mol/L with LoQ 1.313x10-6 mol/L and the LoD instrument 1.217x10-6 mol/L and LoQ 1.560x10-6 mol L-1. In addition, this method has a high the selectivity coefficient is -3.7 and it has uncertainty of measurement 9.7x10-7 ± 1,282x10-6 mol/L to 9.12x10-5 ± 3.5x10-5 mol/L. Potentiometric method of cell type of concentration has an optimum condition at pH 5 and temperature 30˚C. The conditions of copper in leachate water ranged from 0.588 to 55.3 mg/L. Potentiometric methods based on concentration cells have good validation results and can be used to determine the metal concentration in environment.
