Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the behavior of rubber cultivation by farmers before and during the Covid 19 pandemic conditions in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency (2) Calculate the income of rubber farmers before and during the Covid 19 pandemic conditions in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District Muara Enim Regency (3) Formulated a strategy to maintain production and income of rubber farmers during the Covid 19 pandemic conditions in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. This research was conducted in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. Data were collected from October to November 2020. The research method used in this study was a survey method. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The sampling method used in this study was the simple random sampling method, with a sample of 35 rubber farmers from 155 total rubber farmers. The data processing method used in this study was the analysis of the normality test and paired two-sample t test and SWOT analysis. The results showed that there was a change in the cultivation behavior of rubber farmers in Segayam Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency, including weeding, fertilizing, controlling pests and diseases, and tapping. The average income before the pandemic was IDR 14,446,433 per hectare per 6 months, while the average income during the pandemic was IDR 4,725,604 per hectare per 6 months. There was a decrease in farmers' income by Rp9,712,515 with a decrease in percentage of 67.23 percent. The results show that the Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0,000, because the Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0,000 ≤ 0.05. So, the rule of decision is Reject Ho. This means that there is a difference between income before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The strategy to maintain production and income of rubber farmers in rubber farming in Segayam Village is in quadrant II Competitive Strategy, meaning that rubber farming, although facing obstacles, has strength. inside it.
