Abstract

This study aims was to determine the pattern of NDF degradation in swamp grass (Kumpai Tembaga, Kumpai Minyak, and Kumpai Padi) by In-sacco. This research was conducted from February to July 2020 at the Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and Animal Nutrition and Forage Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The experimental treatments were Kumpai Tembaga Grass (Hymenachne Acutigluma), Kumpai Minyak (Hymenachne Amplexicaulis) and Kumpai Padi (Oryza Rupifogon) incubated in a rumen of a buffalo (± 2 years) with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications. The observed parameters were fractions of easily degraded (fraction a), hardly degraded (fraction b), and total degradation value (P). The difference of treatments was analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan test (Gaspersz., 1991). The pattern of degradations were showed using Microsoft Excel 2007 software the degradation curve . The results showed that the grasses have different NDF degradation patterns. The highest degradation of (a) fraction was found in Kumpai Padi (27.33%), (b) fraction in Kumpai Tembaga (59.41%), (c) fraction in Kumpai Minyak (0.15%), while the value of the incubation period was 48 hours highest in Kumpai Padi (70.44%).
