Abstract

The research location is located in Cingebul and its surroundings, Lumbir District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province. The method used in this research includes three methods, namely field observation, laboratory analysis, and studio analysis. Field observations consist of describing rock outcrops, taking data on physical characteristics of the rocks, measuring the thickness of the rock layers in the form of measuring stratigraphy (MS), and taking paleontological samples. Laboratory analysis which includes paleotological analysis, and studio analysis which includes map making, facies analysis, and making biostratigraphic correlation models of the research area. This study aims to identify chronologically the deposition of turbidite deposits through biostratigraphic analysis, the grouping of turbidite facies from the Halang Formation in the study area. The physical characteristics of the rocks in the study area are dominated by interbedded Sandstone with Shalestone or Siltstone, massive sandstones, and a few claystone interclast. The facies characteristics of the rocks in the study area include Classical Turbidite (CT) and Massive Sandtone (MS), this is based on the characteristics of the lithofacies which are dominated by massive sandstone deposits and classical interludes typical of turbidite deposits. Based on the results of the biostratigraphic correlation, it was identified that rock deposition in the study area was at the Early Miocene (N8) period which was marked by the first appearance of the species Globigerina seminulina to Pliocene (N19) which was marked by the last appearance of the Sphaerodinella subdehincens species. The bathymetry zone of the Halang Formation turbidite deposits in the study area is interpreted to be in the lower batial zone.
