Abstract

Mammals have roles in balancing the ecosyste. In their lives, mammals utilize all strata of vegetation in the forest, so that survival of these groups is very dependent on habitat conditions. Based on preliminary studies in the area of Protected Forest Cogong II Hill has been done survey in October 2015 showed the extent of damage Protected Forest Area Cogong II Hill is quite high, as a result of community activities that do not disregard the principles of environmental ethics. It's evident from the many of rubber plantation land clearing by the society and natural tourism area which can impact negatively on the environment, especially habitat of mammals, so we need an inventory of studies about the presence of mammals in the region. Mammals wildlife observation made directly through the method of Visual Encounter Survey (VES) and indirect observation by interview. The survey results indicate that mammals are still represented by the enough of 28 kinds of 19 families and 8 orders known to exist 8 Ordo consists of the Order Chiroptera 2 types, the Order Rodentia 3 types, Order Scadentia 4 types, Order Dermoptera 1 type, Order Artiodactyla 3 types Order Primates 6 species, the Order Carnivora 6 species, Order Pholidota 1 species. 19 species have high conservation value. 15 species are protected by the Law of the Republic of Indonesia and 11 species belong to Appendix II of CITES and 4 species include in Appendix I of CITES. There is no species of the IUCN red list. Based on IUCN status category 3 species EN (Endangered), 6 species category status Vu(Vurnerable) and 3 species NT (Near Threatened).
