Abstract

Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes and has increased along with social, economic, and cultural changes in society. Insulin resistance is a marker that appears several years before diabetes, so it can be assessed appropriately in the prediabetes period. Insulin resistance assessment with Hyperinsulinemic-Euglycemic Clamp and HOMA-IR (Homeostasis Model Assessment Insulin Resistance) in a mass community in developing countries like Indonesia is still not practical and applicable implemented with consideration of cost-efficiency. This study aims to obtain an optimal cut-off point from the visceral adiposity index and lipid accumulation product as surrogate insulin resistance in prediabetes with various age stratifications so that it can then be used in the community as a multilevel screening method in predicting the incidence of prediabetes in the community in order to obtain priority communities to be given priority interventions to be given intervention prevention of prediabetes progression. This research is an analytic study with cross sectional design to find the Visceral Adipocity Index (VAI) and the Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP) cut off point in predicting prediabetes. The sample in this study was 331 patients who sought treatment at the Palembang City Health Center Work Area and were willing to become research respondents and sign an informed concent. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data analysis in this study was conducted descriptively and inferential using the ROC curve. The results of the study used ROC analysis to determine the optimal cut off point of VAI and LAP respectively, indicating that the diagnostic values were categorized as excellent and there were no significant differences between the two (p value <α.) Keywords: Diabetes, Viseral Adipocity Index, Lipid Accumulation Product
