Abstract

Electricity has become one of the basic needs that dominates all human activities today. We can easily find its use in everyday life from the household to the industrial world. To meet these energy needs high voltage plays a very important role. One component in high voltage is a transformer. There are many types of vegetable oils, one of which is Redefined, Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO). The addition of nanoparticles into insulating oil has been identified to increase the performance of the insulating oil. Further research on mixing Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) with RBDPO olein oil as research material has not been carried out intensively. Therefore, in this study we will discuss about the increase in the performance of RBDPO Olein oil with the addition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) with 3 different concentrations of 0.025% wt, 0.05% wt and 0.075% wt. The parameters of the discussion include breakdown stress, viscosity, water content, and flash point. Based on the research carried out the addition of TiO2 can increase the sample breakdown voltage. From the 3 variations of TiO2 concentration, the addition of 0.075 wt% has the most optimal breakdown voltage with a total increase in breakdown voltage of 24,13793%. Viscosity shows an increase in the addition of the concentration of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2). As well as the flash point and water content values decreased with the addition of the concentration of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2). Keywords: Palm Oil, Titanium Dioxide (TiO2), Breakdown Voltage.
