Abstract

This research is entitled “Broadcasting Management of the ‘Morning Zone’ Program in Order to Maintain Listener's Interest in Palembang Trax FM Radio. This study aims to determine how the broadcasting management of the ‘Morning Zone’ program maintains listeners’ interest in Palembang Trax FM Radio. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. The research approach was carried out through deep interviews, observation and documentation. The focus of this research consists of program planning, program production or program purchasing, program execution and program monitoring and evaluation, which refers to the theory of Broadcasting Management Program (Program Strategy) according to Peter Pringle. Palembang Trax FM Radio is one of the well-known youth radios in Palembang City, with male and female listeners aged 15–30 years. In 2016–2018, the listeners of Trax FM radio, especially on the ‘Morning Zone’ program, experienced an increase in the number of listeners, but in 2018–2019 the number of listeners was decreased because listeners preferred to listen to broadcasts via the Trax FM radio application on a smartphone (podcast). This rapid technological development is one of the reasons why the ‘Morning Zone’ program in Trax FM radio must have good broadcasting management in maintaining its listeners, starting from program planning, program production or program purchasing, program execution and program monitoring and evaluation.
