Abstract

Introduction: Immunization is the process whereby a person is made immune or resistant to an infectious disease, typically by the administration of a vaccine. One of the factors that need to be considered in the effectiveness of immunization is the completeness and punctuality of the immunization schedule. When child's immunization is not being obeyed as scheduled, it could have a significant impact on the immunity and vulnerability of the child's body to a disease. Therefore, it is being expected for the children to get their immunization on time in order to get the protection from various harmful diseases. The importance of this research is to analyze factors that can influence the completeness and accuracy of basic immunization, so t a strategy can be made to improve the level of obedience of the mothers for their child immunization. Method: This research was an analytical study with cross sectional design. The samples of this study were all mothers who had children aged 4-12 months who came to Puskesmas Sabokingking Palembang in November-December 2017. Results. Out of 46 respondents, 87% had high educational level and the others (13%) had low level of education. The majority of the respondents showed they had good knowledge on an ideal immunization (82,6%), good knowledge on a complete immunization (58,7%), good knowledge on a punctual immunization (47,8%), and good attitude (100%). The highest proportion were respondents who had children age 4 months (34,8%), had complete immunization (56,5%), and had low punctuality of immunization schedule (80,4%). Discussion. Majority of respondent have high educational level, good knowledge on an ideal immunization, good knowledge on a complete immunization, good knowledge on a punctual immunization, and good attitude towards their child immunization. Highest number of respondent are the ones with completes immunization and low punctuality of immunization schedule. Mother’s knowledge and educational level do not have relationships with the completeness and punctuality of basic immunizations in 4-12 months old children in Puskesmas of Sabokingking Palembang.
