Abstract

Dewasa ini kemunculan Radio Digital melalui smartphone berkembang pesat, sudah banyak produsen dan pelaku bisnis penyiaran saling berlomba untuk mendapatkan hati dan eksistensi diantara para pendengar nya. Global Radio FM Palembang merupakan salah satu jenis radio yang eksis ditengah masyarakat Kota Palembang. Dengan target utama pemuda dengan usia remaja, Global Radio sukses eksis melalui salah satu program unggulannya yaitu program Global Afternoon Show. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana pengaruh antara motif dengan tingkat kepuasan pendengar Global Radio pada masyarakat pendengar radio dengan usia remaja di Kota Palembang. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan teori Uses and Gratificaion oleh Katz, Blumber dan Gurevitch dan teori dari Towers dalam jurnal What Happened to our Audience? Radio and New Technology Uses and Gratifications Among Young Adult Users, dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif serta jenis data deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode penyebaran kuesioner, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara motif dengan tingkat kepuasan pendengar Global Radio pada program acara Global Afternoon Show. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan program acara Global Afternoon Show yang telah memenuhi semua dimensi dari Gratification Sought dan Gratification Obtained yakni Surveillance, Diversion, News and Localness of News, dan Ritualistic Nature of Listening.
