Abstract

Papaya’s leaf (Carica papaya L) is belong to Cariceae family. Papaya’s leaf phytochemical test results have positive reaction on flavonoid compound. This compound has the potential to inhibit diarrheal disease by inhibiting of acetylcholine which can increase intestinal contraction due to irritation by bacteria such as Escherichia coli that cause diarrhea. This study aimed to find out the antidiarrheal activity of nanoparticle preparation of papaya leaf ethanol extract (Carica papaya L) with lactic acid bacteria from legum kemon air to wistar rats induced by Escherichia coli 5mL / kgBB. Preparation of papaya’s leaf ethanol extract and lactic acid isolate into nanoparticle was using chitosan polymer and sodium alginate as a stabilizer with ionic gelation method to improve stability of papaya’s leaf ethanol ethanolic extract. There was were three formulas made in this study. All three formulas was varied on the use of base components. Formula 1 used 12.5 g, formula 2 used 17.5 g, and formula 3 used 22,5 g. Each of the respective formulas has EE values of 82,913± 0,0980; 82,86 ± 0,5205; and 82,762 ± 0,3940. Formula 1 gave the highest EE% value so it was choosen as the optimum foemula. The results of characterization of nanoparticles such as diameter mean and PDI (Poly Dispersity Index) used PSA (Particle Size Analyzer) in the optimum formula ware 286,8 nm and 0,486 respectively.
