Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer by applying oil palm shell biochar on the growth and yield of Bima Brebes shallot variety. The research was conducted in the village of Sinar Pagi, Kaur regency, Bengkulu province. The research was started from april to July 2020. The research used factorial randomized block design, with 2 factors and 3 replications, the first factor was Nitrogen, N1 = 2,17 g plant-1, N2 = 2,71 g plant-1, N3 = 3,26 g plant-1, and N4 = 3,80 g plant-1, and the second factor was oil palm shell biochar. B0 = control (without biochar), B1 = biochar 51 g plant-1, B2 = biochar 102 g plant-1, and B3 = biochar 153 g plant-1. The results showed that the utilization of nitrogen with a dose 2,71 g plant-1 had the best variable on the growth and yield of Bima Brebes shallot variety, based of plant height 43,92 cm, diameter of the bulbs 2,72 cm, tiller number 5,33 tiller, fresh weight of the bulbs 48,95 g, and dry weight of the bulbs 47,26 g. The treatment of 153 g plant-1 had the best variable on the plant height 44,33 cm, leaf number 13,77 sheet, diameter of the bulbs 2,68 cm, tiller number 5,67 tiller, fresh weight of the bulbs 55,77 g, and dry weight of the bulbs 54,09 g. The use of oil palm shell biochar could make the use of nitrogen fertilizers more efficient.
