Abstract

Mothers who do not have good knowledge about section caesarea and have pain arising from SC can have problems such as disturbance on Activity of Daily Living (ADL), disturbance on bonds of affection between the mothers and babies, and lack of early breastfeeding initiation (IMD). This study was conducted to describe the knowledge of mothers in dealing with sectio caesarean wound pain. The design used in this research is descriptive quantitative with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in several hospitals in Palembang City in July 2019 with mothers after caesarean section as the population. The sample taken was 52 people using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that most of the respondents were in the age range 21-35 years, 36 respondents (69.2%), 21 respondents (40.4%) had an S1 / S2 education level. The description of knowledge of some respondents showed that there were 28 respondents (53.8%) with good knowledge, 17 respondents (32.7%) had enough knowledge, and 7 respondents (13.5%) were indentified to have less knowledge. The description of maternal knowledge in dealing with pain due to cesarean section showed a good result, almost balanced among mothers who have insufficient and sufficient knowledge. Thus, the role of nurses as an educator for their patients is needed so that postoperative mothers can be motivated to carry out pain management independently and recover quickly.
