Abstract

This research was conducted to help reduce fly ash waste so that there is no future buildup, utilization is carried out by the process of making composites using powder metallurgy method, The variables to be observed are the effect of temperature and holding time on the sintering process, the temperature used is 900oC, 1000oC, 1100oC with a holding time of 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours. Then to determine the effect of the given variables, density, porosity, compressive strength tests will be carried out and scanning electron microscopy observations. In the density and compressive strength tests carried out from several times the highest value was obtained at the temperature variable 1100oC with a holding time of 3 hours and the lowest value was obtained at the temperature variable 900oC with a holding time of 1 hour. After that, the Scaning Electron Microscope observation was carried out to see the comparison of the effect of temperature and sintering holding time, from the results of Scaning Electron Microscope observations on the composite surface, it was seen that the increasing temperature and holding time of large pores sintering decreased due to the fusion between powder particles. the density or mechanical value increases and the porosity decreases.
