Abstract

Untreated open wound will potentially lead to chronic infection. Chempedak (Artocarpus integer (Thunb.)Merr) leaf contain flavonoid that can help the wound healing process as antiinflamation, antibacterial, and antioxidant. This research is aiming to find the effect of giving etanol from chempedak leaf extract towards open wound healing rate. The test animal that consist of 25 Sprague Dawley rats, divided into 5 groups which consist of negative control test, positive control test, control test K1, K2, and K3. The observed parameter is the area of wound, wound healing percentage, and healing time. Area of wound was analyzed using ANOVA test to observe the differences between certain days of the observation. Phytochemical test result shows that ethanol extract from chempedak leaf (Artocarpus integer (Thunb.)Merr) fulfills the requirements from Materia Medika Indonesia (1989) and Depkes RI (2008). The research result shows that ethanol extract from chempedak leaf (Artocarpus integer (Thunb.)Merr) with 300 mg/kgBB dossage is proven to accelerate the healing rate, which was shown in rats that achieved healing rate of 90,356% in 20 days, where there was no significant difference (p>0,05) between cempedak leaf extract at a dose of 300 mg / kgBB against the positive control (Tekasol®) and significantly different from the negative control. Also, there is significant difference (p <0,05) between negative control and all control groups (positive, K1, K2, dan K3) on day 20, This shows that positive control and treatment with dosage variation can accelerate the healing rate on open wound.
