Abstract

Tidal swamp land was one of the best land resources to be used for agriculture in Indonesia, which was maize crop. The development of maize crop needed to be considered the exact nutrient need, so that the growth and production of corn produced will increase. The aim of this research was to know the effect of specific location N and K fertilizers on growth and production of maize plant in tidal soil and to find out the specific combination of N and K fertilizer doses location that can give optimum result to growth and production of maize in tidal land. The research was conducted at Greenhouse of Soil Department, Agricultural Faculty, Sriwijaya University and analysis of Soil was conducted in Chemical, Biology and Soil Fertility Laboratory, Department of Soil Since, Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University. The study was conducted from May to September 2017. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments 3 times and 2 series so there was 36 units of combination with P1(75%N: 76,14 kg ha-1 and 75%K: 31,40 kg ha-1), P2 (100%N: 101,52 kg ha-1 and 100%K: 41,87 kg ha-1), P3 (125%N: 126,9 kg ha-1 and 125%K: 52,33 kg ha-1), P4 (150%N: 152,28 kg ha-1 and 150%K: 62,80 kg ha-1), P5 (175%N: 177,66 kg ha-1 and 175%K: 73,27 kg ha-1), and P6 (200% N: 203,04 kg ha-1 and 200% K:83,74 kg ha-1). The results showed that the application of N and K fertilizer had no significant effect on soil pH, N-total, CEC, Al-dd, plant height, weight of cob and seed weight per plant, but give significant effect on K-exchange soil its availability was still below standard. The treatment of 200% N and 200% K Fertilizer doses tended to make the higher result of maize seed’s weight in tidal land. The Suggestion after this research done is the seed need to be tested with N and K fertilizer treatment and specific location compared with the recommended fertilizer doses for maize
