Abstract

Tranformator is an electrical tool that has a function as an energy transferer with the principle of electromagnetic induction.. Most of the insulating oil used in transformers comes from petroleum that is not renewable. Therefore, the need for alternative oil insulation with a high level of biodegradability. Vegetable oil that is considered suitable to be researched as insulating oil is virgin coconut oil. This research was conducted using VCO Oil with the addition of Titanium Dioxide TiO2 which aims to find out the amount of initial voltage Partial Discharge (Partial Discharge Inception Voltage). The discussion was conducted to include Partial Discharge Inception Voltage, Viscosity, and Water Content. Addition of Titanium Dioxide TiO2 with concentrations of 0.025% and 0.050%. Based on the research conducted the influence of temperature and the addition of Titanium Dioxide TiO2 is quite influential. At a concentration of 0.050% the most optimal increase in PDIV voltage with the largest increase of 4,493 Kv. Viscosity value increases against the addition of Titanium Dioxide and heating temperature. And water content testing decreased for concentrations of 0.025% and 0.050% but increased in pure VCO test samples. Keyword: Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO).
