Abstract

This is a qualitative research aimed to determine the value of mathematical education of students in non-routine problem-solving in high school. The subjects are students of class X in one high schools in Palembang, amounting to four students. The data collection was done by observation, written tests and interviews were then analyzed. The results of this study indicates that the educational value of student mathematics is the dominant emerging theoretical knowledge. This happens because students are familiar with the routine questions with numbers and math symbols, when given a non-routine matter to form about the story, the students were confused in determining the pace of completion. As for the value of mathematics education students who rarely appear on non-routine problem solving is reasoning, because students only thing to be able to solve the problem without giving a conclusion.
