Abstract

The development of interactive multimedia based on mobile learning to read editorial texts in class XII at SMA Negeri 3 Palembang has been carried out to meet the previously unavailable media. This study aims to (1) describe the need analysis for mobile learning-based interactive multimedia development in learning to read editorial texts; (2) Describe the objective conditions of developing interactive multimedia based on mobile learning to read editorial texts; (3) Designing products in the form of interactive multimedia based on mobile learning to read editorial texts; (4) Describe the feasibility of interactive multimedia products based on mobile learning to read editorial texts developed according to experts. This research method used a modified development model based on research needs, namely a combination of Borg and Gall and Allesi and Trollip. The research data is in the form of qualitative data and quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected using interviews, while quantitative data were collected using questionnaires. This interactive multimedia based on mobile learning was compiled based on the results of needs analysis and objective conditions of class XII students and teachers at SMA Negeri 3 Palembang. This interactive multimedia framework was composed of several features, namely quiz games, materials, learning videos, evaluations, learning forums, and reference sites. This interactive multimedia has been validated by three experts, namely material experts, media experts, and linguists. Based on the results of the validation of the three experts, interactive multimedia based on mobile learning to read editorial texts was declared very suitable for using in class XII at SMA Negeri 3 Palembang.
