Abstract

Synthesis of layered double hydroxides Ni/Fe and Ni/Cr have been done by coprecipitation method. The layered double hydroxides synthesis of Ni/Fe and Ni/Cr characterized by X-Ray Diffraction analysis and FT-IR spectrophotometer. The result of XRD analysis showed that the layered double hydroxide Ni/Fe has peak diffraction at 2θ value at 10° and the other diffraction at 11.41o; 23.06o; 29,40o with the basal spacing 7.74 Ȧ; 3.85 Ȧ dan 3.03 Ȧ. Ni/Cr has peak diffraction of 2θ at 20.47°; 29.68°; 33.394°; 38.94° dan 59.43°. FT-IR spectrum of Ni/Fe has the vibration of O-H, Fe-O, and Ni-O vibration showed wavenumbers 1635 cm-1, 840 cm-1, 455 cm-1. Adsorption of congo red dye on the layered double hydroxides Ni/Fe and Ni/Cr are affected by pHpzc at various times, concentrations, and temperatures. The adsorption process of congo red use the pseudo-second-order equation where the effect of various times on the layered double hydroxides of Ni/Fe is greater than Ni/Cr so the reactivity of Ni/Fe is greater than Ni/Cr. The Feundlich equation shows a Gibbs free energy (ΔG) is negative value that show the congo red dye process occurs spontaneously. The adsorption capacity of Ni/Fe and Ni/Cr increased along increasing of the layered double hydroxides temperature.
