Abstract

This study has a discussion of transnational drug crimes as a consequence of the visa-free visit policy in South Sumatra Province. This research was conducted based on the urgency of the involvement of the visa-free application of the transnational drug crimes committed in the last few years since the policy was passed. The method chosen in the preparation of this research is the field method and the literature method. The author uses the field method, namely data collected from interviews. Meanwhile, the library method that the author uses is the data that the author collects from the results of library sources in the form of books, journals, documents, and regulations. The results obtained from this study are that there is a relationship between the visa-free policy and the flow of drug abuse in South Sumatra Province. The free visit visa policy has been misused by irresponsible elements, namely foreign nationals who see that there is an opportunity to be able to take advantage of drug trafficking. There are at least two threats due to the abuse of this policy, namely: 1) Direct threats, namely the increasing intensity of foreign nationals in drug smuggling in South Sumatra Province and the increasing diversity of types of drugs. 2) The indirect threat, which allows a group of international networks and foreign nationals to commit transnational organized crime to study the flow of goods into and out of goods, allows the emergence of routes and modes of smugglers in smuggling drugs.
