Abstract

The problem raised in this research is what lies behind the use of the Alay language by the GGS community and how the form of the Alay language is used by the GGS community on facebook. This study uses the Sociolingguistic Theory of Abdul Chaer dan Leonie Agustina. The method used in this study is a qualitative analysis technique (content analysis) with the main informants 6 members of the GGS community and 4 supporting informants. Data collection in this study through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study there are two factors behind the GGS community using Alay language on facebook, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are factors that arise from within a person who aim to be considered slang and as a form of expressing self-expression, while external factors are factors that arise from the surrounding environment, such as friends and television. While the form of using the Alay language used by the GGS community is the use of uppercase and lowercase letters, the use of writing without spaces, and the use of signs, symbols and emoticons. The form of the Alay language used by the GGS community includes variations or variety of languages ​​types of Jargon, Prokem, and Kolloqial.
