Abstract

Silver craft is one the jobs of the Tanjung Batu community, which produces silver jewelry, but in the process of making stained powder and smelting pure silver, these two processes produce a total dust content that impacts the health of the silver craftman and is one causes of ARI. This study aims to analyze the relationship between exposure to total dust levels and the incidance of ARI in silber craftmen in Tanjung Batu village, Ogan Ilir. This research is a quantitative study with a Cross Sectional design approach. The sample of the study is 64 respondents, with the sampling technique, named Purposive Sampling. The measuring instrument used in this research is Haz Dust Epam 5000. The data obtained will be carried out by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using SPSS in the chi-square and Fisher's Exact test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between total dust content (p-value 0.004), gender (p-value 0.009), and smoking behavior (p-value 0.008) with the incidence of ARI among silver craftsmen in Tanjung Batu Village, Tanjung Batu District, Ogan Ilir, but on the other side, there were no relationships between age, period of exposure, years of working, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) with the incidence of ARI. The conclusion of this study is that the incidence of ARI is caused by factors such as total dust levels, sex, and smoking behavior. The suggestion from this research is that silver craftsmen clean 2 times a day or before and after work, it is hoped that the respondent will have a good rest time, and not smoke while the working.
