Abstract

Panel wall is a non-structural component that is suitable for earthquake-resistant housing. Panel walls are generally made using a normal concrete mixture and reinforcement in it. The use of lightweight materials can reduce the weight of normal concrete which is quite high and reduce the risk of accidents during an earthquake. Therefore, the material used in this study is foam concrete. Panel walls with square opening are varied according to the presence or absence of wire mesh use and 3 types of wall dimensions. Each type is varied with respect to wall thickness, namely 40 mm, 50 mm, and 60 mm. Each wall type is given a monotonic static load gradually until the wall is unable to withstand the load. Each wall type model is analysed using the ANSYS program, where the output obtained is a graph of the comparison between the load and deformation values of each panel wall model. From the results of this analysis, it can be concluded that the dimensions of the panels, the thickness of the panels, and the use of wire mesh material have an influence on the value of the load that is held by the panel walls and the value of deformation. The lower the panel wall dimensions, the greater the load that the panel wall can withstand, with the smaller the deformation value. As for the variation in the thickness of the panel walls, the thicker the panel walls, the greater the load that the panel walls can withstand, and the greater the value of panel deformation. The use of wire mesh material provides rigidity to the panel walls, so that the load that can be held is greater, with a smaller deformation value compared to panel walls without wire mesh.
