Abstract

Iron sand is one of the mineral deposits containing metal and the second most abundant in the earth, for this reason iron sand is very useful if its existence can be utilized. To be able to use iron sand, it is necessary to undergo a processing process first so that the Fe metal content increases for its utilization. In this study, the iron sand used undergoes a processing process using willobi by utilizing water as the separating medium. In this study, the analysis of the increase in Fe content in the processing process using the willobi concentration tool by varying the size of the cross-sectional area and the feeding speed. This research begins by calculating the water discharge used, weighing the feed, weighing the concentrate and tailings, and analyzing the levels of feed, concentrate and tailings produced in the processing process. Based on research conducted using the willobi concentration tool, it was found that an increase in Fe content could be used as a fine aggregate for making concrete. There were 6 experiments that had Fe levels in accordance with the target in this study, namely in the experiment with a cross-sectional area of 400 cm2 with feeding speeds of 4 minutes / kg, 6 minutes / kg, 8 minutes / kg, 10 minutes / kg and 12 minutes / kg with the respective levels obtained were 56.26%, 56.53%, 57.09%, 56.61%, and 56.41%. Meanwhile, another experiment that was able to achieve the target was an experiment with a cross-sectional area of 625 cm2 with a feeding speed of 8 minutes / kg with an Fe content of 56%. In this study, there were still losses with the highest Fe losses, only 1.82 grams or only 0.36%.
