Abstract

Background: Dental and oral health are an important part of general health status, because it can affect a person's quality of life. Based on RISKESDAS data, the incidence of caries in Indonesian children is 93%. Elementary school children (6-12 years) are prone to experiencing dental caries, because at this age children have a habit of snacking and often consume sweet drinks. Objective: The aims of this systematic review is to determine the relationship between beverage drink consumption and dental caries in children. Methods: The type of research is used a systematic literature review with qualitative analysis. Literature full text used literature with Indonesian and English language and publications for the last 10 years. The population in this literature review is primary school aged children aged 6-12 years. Results: The identified articles were downloaded totaling 64 articles, then eliminated for duplicate literature, the number of literature obtained was 60 articles with 22 abstracts that met the criteria. The databases used are Google Schoolar, PubMed, and Scient Direct. There are 7 full-text articles that will be used. It was found that children who have the habit of consuming sugary drinks are at risk of developing dental caries. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is there is a relationship between sweet drink consumption habits and dental caries in children (n=7).
