Abstract

This research meant to analyze employment elasticity in the trade, restaurant and hotel sector in province South Sumatra. With elasticity concept, we can estimate labor demand in this sector on the future. Time series data (1991-2005) were analyzed to estimate the model. Data which used in this research is data of seconder obtained from interconnected institute or institution like : On duty Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata sumatera Selatan, On duty Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Sumatera Selatan and Statistical Center Sumatera Selatan. The classical linear regression with method of ordinary least square (OLS) with equipment SPSS was applied in estimating the model. Model from the regression was Ln Li = 6.742 + 0.401. The result show the employment elasticity in trade, restaurant and hotel sector is inelastic with 0,401.
