Abstract

The curve of Spee is a line of occlusion in the sagittal direction which can be seen from the central incisor to the distal marginal ridge of the second molar and contributes to a good masticatory system. One of the six key to normal occlusion is to have a normal curve of Spee. This study aims to determine correlation of the depth curve of Spee to overbite at 15-40 years old and different malocclusions. The research method used is a search for journals through database the DOAJ, Pubmed, Google Schoolar and Elsevier (2006-2021) which are published in Indonesian and English. The keywords used were curve of Spee, overbite, children, adolescent, and adults. Abstract or full texts were reviewed one by one according to the inclusion criteria and biased assessment using CASP. Based on the results of a literature review of fifteen journals, it was found that the maximum depth curve of Spee was found in class II malocclusion and an increase in the depth curve of Spee also increase the overbite value. In addition, it is also said that gender and age did not significantly influence the depth curve of Spee. Based on fifteen journals it can be concluded that there is a significant positive correlation between the depth curve of Spee and overbite in all types of malocclusion and an increase in age has no effect on the depth curve of Spee. Keyword : Adult, Adolescent, Children, Curve of Spee, Overbite, and Literature Review
