Abstract

The objective of this research was to describe the utilization of smartphone by students of SMP Negeri 55 Palembang. Total sampling technique employed to 200 selected students of VIII grade. Survey method was applied with quantitative research. Data collection followed Guttman scale using questionnaires. Data analysis conducted with descriptive quantitative. The results showed that mostly used smartphone wasandroid type with internet connectivity through sim-card. Accessed contents were communication, utilized as entertainment media. The positive effect of smartphone was as entertainment media, on the other hand, the negative effect was physically interference.
