Abstract

Household food consumption patterns are information regarding the type and amount of food consumed by each member of the household on a continuous basis. The objectives of this study are: (1) Describe the characteristics of household food consumption in Palembang City, (2) Analyze the level of food diversification based on household food consumption patterns in Palembang City, (3) To analyze what factors affect the level of food diversification. households in Palembang City. The research method used is a survey method and data collection methods using the interview method with the help of a questionnaire. The study was conducted in January 2021 with 45 respondents from high, medium, and low income groups. The data processing method uses the Expectant Food Pattern (PPH) scoring approach and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis with the help of the SPSS application. The results showed that the characteristics of household food consumption in household income groups are different, namely the food consumed by considering health benefits, tastes, and prices. The housewife is the person who decides which food to buy and consume, daily food is consumed 3 times a day and side food is usually consumed at indefinite times. The highest level of food diversification is in households with a moderate household income group of 83.2 and a high household income group of 69.6. While the lowest is in the low household income group of 64.8. Factors that have a significant effect on the level of household food diversification are the age of the housewife, the number of household members, the dummy of moderate household income, and the dummy of consumed snacks. Meanwhile, factors that did not have a significant effect were housewives' education and high household income.
