Abstract

South Sulawesi Waters is an area with a potential capturer fisheries. One type of capture fishery is pelagic fish. The potential of this pelagic fishery can be maximized by mapping the potential fishing ground, then distributed it on a website. Potential areas for pelagic fishing could be identified by analyzing oceanographic parameter that affect the life of pelagic fish, namely temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a. This study used Suomi NPP-VIIRS images data to identify SST and chlorophyll-a. Image data of SST and chlorophyll-a were collected in 4 season periods (west, transition I, east and transition II season). This research was conducted from November 2020 to March 2021 with the South Sulawesi Waters as study area. SST satellite imagery is analyzed and produces front data. The overlay of front and chlorophyll-a data generate a fishing ground area point. Data on the potential points of pelagic fishing are distributed using a website with codeigniter as the framework and PHP as a programming language. Based on this research, it is known that the optimum SST for pelagic fish was 25-33 0C and 0,2-2 mg/m3 for chlorophyll-a concentration value. Other results indicated that pelagic fish are generally found in waters near the coastal areas and south of the research study area. The results of data analysis show that the eastern season and the transition II season are the best seasons for fishing activities. The result of potential areas for pelagis fishing can be seen on the daerahpotensiikansulsel.rf.gd website
