Abstract

Background: The grade point averager (GPA) is an indicator of student success in participating in academic activities. Personality is an essential trait that is reflected in the attitude of a person or nation that distinguishes him from other people or nations. In theory, the personality variable is one of the factors that affect student academic achievement. This study aims to determine the description of the personality type and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of students of the medical education program class of 2018, Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University. Method: This study used a descriptive observational study with a cross sectional data collection design. This research will be conducted in February 2021 at the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University by filling out the Eysecnk Personality Inventory questionnaire to assess personality and secondary data in the form of GPA scores. Results: As many as 186 research subjects, the highest percentage of personality types was obtained in the extroversion / introversion dimension in students with extrovert personality types (61.63%), while in the neuroticism / stability dimensions among students with neurotic personality types (70.97%). The highest percentage of the cumulative grade point average (GPA) was among students with a very satisfying GPA (57%). Conclusion: The most personality types among students are extrovert and neurotic, the highest GPA among students is very satisfying. Keywords: Medical Student, GPA, personality type.
