Abstract

Technological developments, especially in the field of construction has a close relationship with welding, almost in every workmanship in the field of construction inevitably involves the welding process. of various types of welding certainly have advantages, disadvantages and fundamental differences of welding type, to know the results of tensile strength of welding by conducting tensile testing.This study aims to obtain comparison of tensile strength of low carbon steel materials using smaw welding type and GMAW, using the same campuh, which distinguishes the type of welding. This research is included in the Experiment method. The results of this study were a Comparison of tensile strength between SMAW and GMAW welding that the average value of GMAW welding tensile strength was highest with an average value of 22.64 (kgf/mm²), while the average value of SMAW welding tensile strength was lower with an average value of 18.21 (kgf/mm²). The general conclusion of tensile strength results due to GMAW welding has a high quality of metal deposits at the time of welding, at the time of welding the root face of GMAW welding is easier to penetrate the roots of the weld, the weld results are good there are no slag from the flux, and the finishing process is relatively less. Uncontrolled Keywords: Perkembangan teknologi khususnya dibidang konstruksi memiliki hubungan yang erat dengan pengelasan. dari macam-macam jenis pegelasan tentu memiliki kelebihan, kekurangan serta perbedaan yang mendasar dari jenis pengelasan, untuk mengetahui hasil kekuatan tarik dari pengelasan dengan dilakukan pengujian tarik. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh perbandinganan kekuatan tarik material BKR dengan menggunakan jenis Las SMAW dan GMAW, kampuh sama, yang membedakan jenis pengelasannya. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam metode eksperimen. Hasil penelitian ini berupa perbandingan kekuatan tarik antara SMAW dan pengelasan GMAW bahwa nilai rata-rata kekuatan tarik pengelasan GMAW paling tinggi dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata sebesar 22,64 (kgf/mm²), sedangkan nilai rata-rata kekuatan tarik pengelasan SMAW lebih rendah dengan perolehan nilai rata-rata sebesar 18,21 (kgf/mm²). Kesimpulan umum hasil kekuatan tarik dikarenakan pengelasan GMAW memiliki kualitas deposit logam yang tinggi pada saat mengelas, saat pengelasan root face las GMAW lebih mudah menembus akar las, hasil lasan baik tidak terdapat fluk, dan proses finishing nya relatif sedikit.
