Abstract

Perkembangan dunia industri di era modern ini proses quenching dan tempering sering digunakan pada proses perlakuan panas. Proses ini digunakan untuk meningkatkan keuletan dan ketangguhan pada suatu baja. Variasi konsenterasi media pendingin air garam dapat mempengaruhi kualitas suatu baja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah sifat mekanik material tersebut dapat lebih baik lagi ataupun malah sebaliknya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa spesimen yang dilakukan proses quenching tempering nilai tertinggi ketangguhan sebesar 1,151 Joule dan nilai keuletan teritinggi 39,43% , sebelum dilakukan proses quenching tempering nilai ketangguhan spesimen sebesar 0,567 Joule dan nilai keuletan sebesar 18,65%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini sifat mekanik baja menjadi lebih baik. Dengan meningkatkan konsenterasi air garam dapat meningkatkan keuletan dan ketangguhan baja pada proses quenching tempering.
