Abstract

Indonesia has entered the era of population aging which is indicated by the number of elderly population has reached 9% of the total population. Basically, the increase in the number of elderly will also increase the number of diseases along with physical conditions that decrease due to age. This study is a systematic review that examines previous research on the factors that influence the utilization of outpatient health services by the elderly. Based on PRISMA, literature searches were carried out using the keyword “determinan OR faktor yang berhubungan OR faktor yang mempengaruhi AND pemanfaatan AND posyandu AND lansia OR poslansia” in the DOAJ, IOS by Perpusnas, and Researchgate databases by finding 94 articles, 32 of which meet inclusion criteria were included in the follow-up analysis. There are 3,236 respondents from 28 districts/cities in Indonesia. The majority of studies proved the magnitude of the effect of family support (69% of studies) (p-value=0,000-0,038), knowledge (47% of studies) (p-value=0,00-0,037), attitudes (28% of studies) (p-value=0,000-0,039), role of cadres (28% of studies) (p-value=0,000-0,038), distance traveled (16% of studies) (p-value=0,000-0,023), job (12,5% studies) (p-value=0,000-0,004), gender (9% studies) (p-value=0,000-0,007), and health needs (6.25% of studies) (p-value=0,001-0,022) were considered very vital in influencing the elderly to be able to take advantage of health services. Thus, the identification of factors that are considered effective in the utilization of health care facilities by the elderly can assist policy makers in making rational and evidence-based decisions regarding planning the provision of health services for the elderly in the future.
