Abstract

Silica sand is a non-metallic mineral composed of silica crystals (SiO2) which is abundant in Indonesia. Silica sand washing is a way to clean silica sand for the best quality. This washing process is very necessary in order to minimize white mud, dust and other organic matter such as plant roots. Silica sand can be used in several industrial fields, one of which is the sheet glass industry. Utilization of silica sand as the main raw material in the flat glass industry, it is necessary to wash silica sand using a shaking table tool to obtain good quality silica sand, so that it can be used as the main raw material in making sheet glass. There are several variables in the use of the shaking table, including the slope of the deck and riffle height. Variable variations can affect the quality and quantity of the silica sand produced. When using a combination of a riffle height of -9 mm and a deck slope of 2.86 °, the best yield is 99.11%, the experimental results can be used as raw material for making sheet glass according to SNI 15-0047-2005.
