Abstract

Professionalism is an understanding that assesses professional skills in particular or personal abilities in general which will be used as a measuring tool for achieving success. Journalists are who do journalistic activities using mass media. Therefore, journalist professionalism is the attitude of journalists towards the rules and standards that have been set as job requirements which must be done by journalists. Journalists as a profession regulated the rights and obligations under the press law, journalistic code of ethics and press council regulations. Online media is one of the new media that is experiencing rapid development, especially in recruiting journalists. One of the online media in South Sumatra is Linggau Pos Online. The title of this research is Journalist Professionalism (study of journalists Linggau Pos Online in 2020). In this study, researchers used the theory of Professional Journalist by Yancheff which involved several dimensions, namely writing competencies, oral performance competencies, research and investigative competencies, broad-based knowledge competencies, web-based competencies, audio visual competencies, skill-based computer aplication competencies, ethics competencies, legal competencies, and career competencies with qualitative research methods and data collection by interviewing, observing, and tracing. The results of this research is Journalist Professionalism in Linggau Pos Online 2020 has been quite well. Keywords: professionalism, journalist, online media.
