Abstract

This research objective was to determine the performance of capillary irrigation to support the Melon (Cucumis melo L.) cultivation. This research had conducted on July 2018 until October 2018 at Green House of Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research used descriptive method with two variables. The first variable was hole wick position and the second variable was the number of water source. The data was showed in form of graphs and tables. The observed parameters include the rate of water capilarity, planting media water content, the crop heigh, the amount of leaves, the fresh weight stover, the dry weight stover, and the fruit weight. All capillary irrigation treatments are capable to fulfill daily melon crop water requirement. According to the research result, the highest crop obtained from 2 cm wick treatment above the tube and 1 water source, the highest number of leaves obtained from 2 cm wick treatment above the tube with 2 water sources, the highest fresh weight stover obtained from 1 cm wick treatment above the tube and 1 water source, the highest dry weight stover obtained from 1 cm wick treatment above the tube and 1 water source, and the highest weight of the fruit obtained from 2 cm wick treatment above the tube and 2 water sources.
