Abstract

The optimal production of laying hens phase III can be archieved if the consumption. In addition,the diets given also should have a good quality. The quality of diets is a diet that is able to provide nutritional needs of laying hans phase III. The quality of the diets can be seen from digestibility value, amonng diets : digestibilty of crude protein, crude fiber other nutrients. The digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber can be optimized by addition butyric acid in the diet. The purpose of this study is to find the effects of butyric acid addition against protein consumption, coarse fiber consumption, coarse protein adsorption and coarse fiber adsorption. This research was carried out for two months in the laying hens spot, Candi Farm, Suka Makmur habitation, Air Batu village, Talang Kelapa District, Banyuasin Regency. The method of research was using CRD (Completely Randomized Design) which consist of four treatment and five repetition. The treatments consist of R0 (control ration), R1 (butyric acid supplementation 0,175 gr/kg in the ration), R2 (butyric acid supplementation 0,350 gr/kg in the ration), R3 (butyric acid supplementation 0,525 gr/kg in the ration). The observed parameter was include protein consumption, coarse fiber consumption, coarse protein adsorption and coarse fiber adsorption. The result of this study show the imaginary effect of butyric acid supplementation (P > 0,05) against protein consumption. The conclusion of research show that butyric acid supplementation in ration is not increasing protein consumption, coarse fiber consumption, coarse protein adsorption and coarse fiber adsorption of laying hens on the third phase production.
