Abstract

Andesite mining activities, there is a processing process aimed at producing products that meet consumer or market demands but also produce waste that causes environmental problems. The waste from this processing is stone dust. This waste treatment process is called the Sand Plant. The results of waste treatment are used as a mixture of lightweight bricks. The average sludge content of the 5 samples and the weight of 500 grams for each sample was 16.32%. The waste gradation test obtained a fineness modulus of 4.14, this does not meet the requirements, because the sludge content must be <5% and the fineness modulus must be between 2.2-3.1. The sand plant consists of a sand wash and sludge treatment process. Manufactured sand is a product of andesite waste treatment with a sand plant. The average mud content of manufactured sand from 5 samples weighing 500 grams each sample is 7.36% then washed with sieving 200 mesh, the mud content after washing is 1.32% and the value of fineness modulus is 2.98. The light brick was tested for compressive strength with variations in the composition used, amount of manufactured sand, that is 0.329 kg, 0.502 kg, 0.675 kg, 0.848 kg, 1, 178 kg and the cement used for each sample was 0.5 kg. The average compressive strength of the sample is 0.41 MPa; 1.00 MPa; 1.47 MPa; 2.13 MPa; 3.72 MPa with sand variation 0.329 kg; 0.502 kg; 0.675 kg; 0.848 kg; 1,178 kg. Manufactured sand can be used as a mixture of lightweight concrete because its compressive strength meets the minimum requirements of SNI 8640:2018, which is 2 MPa.
