Abstract

This research aimed to test the performance of power thresher modified at various rotation speed of strip blade and material water content on chopping of corn cob. The method was Factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors, which were the speed rotation (A) and corn cob water content (B) consists of three treatments with each treatment combination repeated three times. The parameters of this research were effective capacity of equipment, the efficiency of the chopped material, chopped percentage yield of < 2 cm, and fuel consumption. The results showed that the highest value of effective capacity of equipment was from the treatment combination of A2B3 was 26.21 kg/hour with strip blade rotation speed of 1150 rpm ± 10 rpm and water content of 11% ± 1%. The highest value of the efficiency of the chopped material was from the treatment combination of A2B3 was 78.85% with strip blade rotation speed of 1150 rpm ± 10 rpm and water content of 11% ± 1%. The highest value of chopped percentage yield of < 2 cm was from the treatment combination of A3B3 was 75.82% with strip blade rotation speed of 1300 rpm ± 10 rpm and water content of 11% ± 1%. The lowest value of fuel consumption was from the treatment combination of A3B3 was 0.55 liter/hour with strip blade rotation speed of 1300 rpm ± 10 rpm and water content of 11% ± 1%.
